This museum is small but really cool. It covers a wide swath of Chicago history both positive and dark, including the World’s Fairs, The Chicago Fire, local inventions and more. Also the folks working there are super helpful. I called ahead of time asking about if they had stuff on the world’s fairs and not only did they say yes, but even recommended multiple antique and curiosity shops in town that had World’s Fair memorabilia. My only real complaint Is I didn’t really see anything about H.H. Holmes but that’s entirely understandable. This place is awesome and I wholeheartedly recommend checking it out.
Loved this museum. Could spend hours here. Such a thoughtful and fun museum covering serious topics from labor to civil rights in a very engaging and creative manner that brings the history of this great city of Chicago to life for generations young and old. All left knowing more about both the city and the fabric of our nation. 1000 stars!

I happened to stop by while passing through Lincoln Park, and it was a truly wonderful experience. I learned a lot more about Chicago and its history, and realized even better that it is a charming place, even though it has some sad history. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend visiting.
Disappointing, large building with a small museum and as small as it was there was still a lot of wasted space with little content. Too much wasted space with protest art, hispanic heritage etc and the so called Lincoln area could have been better utalized for content instead of some portraits and placards. The Chicago fire and the worlds fair, though covered a bit, could have been explored much more than have the whole "Aqui" area. Sure there was latina contributions to the city....but it's a Chicago History museum not a hispanic heritage museum. The Blues music section was enjoyable, got my toe a tappin. The 1st L car was nice. Some of the dioramas could have been lighted better. Saving on electricity I guess.
I had the opportunity to visit the Chicago History Museum while attending a notary conference, and it was a wonderful experience. The venue was clean, well-maintained, and provided a beautiful and professional setting for our event. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and the facilities were comfortable and accommodating for conference attendees. The museum itself is rich in history and offers a unique atmosphere that makes any event feel special. Whether you’re visiting to explore Chicago’s history or attending a conference or special event, I highly recommend stopping by. I look forward to visiting again and spending more time exploring the exhibits.
