It's a fantastic historical building that is kept very clean. The barista, Jasmin is always there to greet me with a smile, kind words, and the best cup of coffe money can buy in these parts...Cafe Vita roast from Seattle! My favorite! Victoria is usually the night person here and she is the best hotel host I have ever encountered! She actually runs a Portland city tour on the weekends, so you can only imagine how much information of the city she has blessed me with! She always is smiling in every situaion, even when I have witnessed not so nice guests try to have their way. Victoria is a master at defusion and making any situation into a good one! The entire staff is great! So nice and welcoming! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Portland!
My partner and I loved this hotel! It was very central to where we needed to wanted to go. Despite the homeless people around, we were able to walk around the area at any time of the day. The staff was very pleasant and the hotel itself was very cute and cozy. The lobby area has a cafe bar and the barista was very nice. It is an old but very well kept hotel. The photo booth inside the hotel is very fun and cute. I will definitely be staying here when I am back in Portland.

What a great stay for a fair price. The lobby is funky, chic and stylish, with delicious well-priced food and drinks. The rooftop views are spectacular. Great vibes here, and the staff is across-the-board wonderful. The private room is tiny but cozy; it has a sink and mirror, which is very helpful. I was initially hesitant about the shared bathrooms, but they are private and spotlessly clean. There’s an affordable parking garage only a few blocks away. If you want to stay in Old Town in style for cheap, this is the spot!
This was my first time staying in a hostel and it was pretty decent. First, the staff was incredible. I was there 3 nights on a weekend, and they were so accommodating, friendly and helpful. Second, unfortunately the AC wasn’t working in the rooms, so it was way too hot inside (hotter than outside, it was 79 when I visited!). The website said air conditioning so I booked. I have a medical condition that proceeded to get worse and cause me pain because I couldn’t properly cool down for the full 3 days I was there. There were no fans in the room, so no air flow, I had to spend extra money to buy one while I stayed there. Clean bedding was provided and anything else that was needed as well, they helped me make ice packs to cool down with as well which was so much appreciated, but was a tiny band aid to the no air conditioning issue. Multiple storage options for bags was great. Third, the location is very accessible to the light rail line stops, tons of scooters around to rent quickly, and short walk to the river walkway and some restaurants. The cafe in the lobby is super cool, loved having it accessible. It’s a cool place with very attentive and welcoming staff. No air conditioning, not even a fan in the room is a huge issue, which is why I will not return.
I ended up at The Society Hotel super late night after encountering an issue with the other place I was staying in. First off, I was so lucky that Victoria who was working the front desk was able to accommodate a room for me at almost 2am, and they were so kind on the phone. I arrived and Victoria was so lovely, Tori Amos was playing and I knew I was in the right place. The room I got was a private room with a shared bathroom in the hallway. The bed was super comfortable and the room more than served it purpose. For the price alone this place can’t beat. They have a parking option for a reasonable price with a garage around the corner too! I would def stay here again. No frills, the things that are important were solid. All of the folks working the desk are very nice and welcoming. If you’re going to be judgy about people who have to live on the street, this might not be the place for you, due to the fact that this is an area where you will see people having to survive in a way that you may not understand or be comfortable with. And to that I say, maybe you should check your privilege.
