Queen Mama's Kitchen was right around the corner from our hotel in Downtown Portland and had great reviews online, so we decided to visit for dinner. I'm glad to say that the restaurant's reputation is well-earned. The food was excellent and came out very quickly, the staff was very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is top notch. It felt like we were having a quiet family dinner inside somebody's home, and a piping hot and very tasty one at that. Portions are large and most entrées could probably be shared, but we came hungry and easily finished two entrées and an appetizer without slowing down. The restaurant is only open for dinner on most of its operating days, and parking can be tricky as the restaurant is on a side street in the city proper. The dining room is also quite small, so advanced dining reservations are recommended. All of that having been said, a meal at Queen Mama's is well worth planning ahead to enjoy and we are very glad that we did! Be sure to save room for dessert, because the pistachio cheesecake is not to be missed.
Came here for lunch and had a really nice experience. The waiter was super welcoming from the start and made us feel comfortable right away. We got the braised lamb shanks with saffron rice, honestly so good. The lamb was really tender and full of flavor. We also tried the pistachio cheesecake and Dubai cheesecake, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Overall, the food was great, but the service is what stood out the most. Definitely a place I’d come back to.

Five stars across the board originally I wanted to go to another place in the area but then it was closed so in front of the closed restaurant I googled restaurants near me and this came up so I said OK I’ll try it. I have not had Mediterranean food in a while and I’m glad that I did. I went there and the service was impeccable and the suggestions from the waiters were awesome. I even got to try saffron tea for the first time. Also, attached to this place is a cheesecake place that is also owned by the same owner. You should definitely get it cause I got a pistachio cheesecake to go. Everything was really good even down to the presentation. They had it on fancy trays I’ll be back again.
unfortunately did not get the chance to try more stuff on their menu but best fish and chips i’ve ever eaten in my life. also loveeee the pistachio cheesecake so much we got 2 more cheesecakes to try!! the atmosphere was really chill, the decor in the restaurant was also really gorgeous! and the staff working there were also really nice and friendly too! highly recommend!!
Excellent experience overall. We loved the food, the staff, and the ambience. One of the son’s was happy to share the family owned restaurant’s journey with us and treated us like welcomed guests. We finished with a birthday cheesecake and coffee for dessert. Thank you.
