Pacific Rim Automotive has been servicing my car for years. They are super honest, straightforward, and I 100% trust they do right by their customers. They are professional and polite. My car is always ready when they say it will be if not sooner, and it is always clean! I was ready to get rid of my car before these last repairs, but I love it again! This is the second shop I’ve taken my high mileage 2001 Tacoma to, and I don’t need to look any further! Have had great experiences with Pacific Rim and very satisfied with the work they’ve done so far (clutch, starter, etc). Very professional and friendly as well.

TL;DR: Just take it to the dealership. "Strong" sales tactics and high prices at Pacific Rim are why women fear taking their car to a mechanic. My Subaru Outback developed a strong burning smell and some smoke on startup. I chose Pacific Rim based on its strong reviews and expected a straightforward experience. When I booked an appointment over the phone, no diagnostic fee was mentioned. However, when I dropped the car off I was told there would be a $380 diagnostic fee, which caught my mother and me off guard. When we hesitated and began to walk, we were pressured into accepting it, told the dealership would charge significantly more and they offered the best prices. We unfortunately caved to the pressure and paid the fee. The team did correctly diagnose the issue (a cam carrier leak) but then quoted $3,700 for the repair, repeating that the dealer would be more expensive. Wanting to compare, I called a Subaru dealership: their standard diagnostic fee was $125, and the same repair was $2,500 out the door after a $1,500 goodwill credit from Subaru of America. We obviously chose the dealership, which provided significantly better service and a free loaner for the weeklong repair.
