We absolutely love the El Moore and can’t recommend it highly enough! We’ve stayed here several times, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The staff is wonderfully accommodating—this time, they arranged an early check-in for us so we could make it to a birthday event for my husband, which we appreciated so much. The hospitality didn’t stop there. The next morning, the manager greeted us with homemade muffins and sat with us for a long, friendly chat. He had already given us fantastic recommendations the night before, and his warmth and attention to detail truly made our stay special. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous, and the experience is consistently fabulous from start to finish. If you’re considering a stay, do it—you won’t be disappointed!
I've stayed here a couple times now, and I wish I could give it 12/5 stars. The staff is great, the rooms are cozy, the views from the rooftop cabins are amazing. I love the commitment to sustainability. I love the secure parking lot. Unfortunately I never saw it in any reviews before booking the Holly in the basement, but it is directly under the common room, and you can hear everything above, including voices, footsteps, and the TV. The noise starts promptly at 7am each morning, and there were people talking, laughing, and watching TV in the common room until 2:30am. There is no staff overnight, so there was no one to reach out to. We didn't confront the guests ourselves, and we know we couldn't do anything about breakfast, so we had less than 5 hours of quiet. If this will bother you, I do not recommend the Holly. The rooftop cabins were amazing though.

We only stayed one night at El Moore but it was quite memorable! The staff was so friendly and accommodating: we had changing arrival times because of travel issues, and they handled it with grace and a smile. The rooms were immaculate and tastefully decorated with Detroit themed lore. We slept soundly and had great recommendations from staff for local libations. The breakfast was delicious and the parlor is bright, warm and inviting to enjoy a quiet coffee and pastry or mingle with other travelers. We also had them hold our luggage after check out a bit. Again, cannot recommend enough, as a seasoned traveler this place knows how it’s done! SIX STARS! We will be back every time we’re in Detroit! Did we mention how awesome and walkable the neighborhood is?! Well priced! Truly a gem!
My husband and I had a great stay at this Lodge. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room on time The room was very clean and had a vintage look Continental breakfast was great with a variety of teas for all the tea lovers like myself The art work around the lodge is historic Books are available to read which are both in the rooms and the lobby Michel knows the area well and made some great recommendations Be sure to visit this lodge. You won’t be disappointed!!
A lovely place to stay! The ambiance is so nice and the welcome was warm and helpful. Close to so much in midtown. We walked downtown which was nice though 1.5 miles each way so not for everyone. We have stayed 4 times at El Moore and it's always been wonderful. We have stayed in all the types of rooms and have so enjoyed all of them. We especially love the lobby/sitting room. We obtained the last room on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which was the Hawthorne. We didn't love having the private bathroom in the hall, but knew before we reserved it, appreciated the smaller cost and were happy to have a room at El Moore!
