HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was looking for a new dentist that would take my insurance as I recently had switched over to my own insurance, and I was excited when I found Dentist at Hyde Park, as I thought it was going to be a great fit. Keep in mind, I scheduled this appointment for a normal 6-month cleaning. I show up for my appointment 15 minutes early and proceed to sit in the waiting room for 40 minutes. The front desk administrator apologized and said they were running about 45 minutes to an hour behind schedule. Finally, after an hour in the waiting room, they take me back to a hygienist room. I then get taken for X-rays. The tech was polite but didn't really seem to know what she was doing. They then took me back to the prior room where I proceeded to wait for another 45 minutes without any interaction. Eventually, the dentist came in and reviewed my X-rays with me. He told me that I had a cavity that needed filled, and two old cavities that needed crowns. It had been over a year since I had been to the dentist, so I expected I may have a cavity, but not the extent he was stating. I take good care of my teeth. The front desk administrator then came in to schedule my filling and get me checked out. Note at this point I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MY CLEANING (almost 2 hours at this office), which is what the entire appointment was scheduled for. She looked concerned when I said this and apologized saying they were about to close and she would check if there were still any hygienists there. She eventually found one and brought him in. I was over it by this point! He proceeds with my cleaning and no joke, the entire cleaning was 6 minutes and 34 seconds. Unacceptable! It is not my fault that you are running behind. It is not my problem that you are ready to go home. I should have received the same care and time as every other patient. Not even an apology and they locked the door as soon as I walked out of the office. To follow up, I went to another dentist and she stated that my older fillings looked fine and I DID NOT need to get crowns. Also, I now have to pay out of pocket for another cleaning because insurance only covers 1 every 6 months. DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST OFFICE! I wish I could give it zero stars.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this dental clinic for quite some time now, and I must say, they never disappoint. The front desk staff, especially Kelly and Heather, are incredibly friendly and patient. They make the entire dental experience so comfortable and stress-free. I genuinely love this place and wouldn’t consider going anywhere else. One of the standout features of this clinic is their ability to make even the most painful procedures, like root canals and extractions, painless. They go above and beyond to ensure that your visit is as comfortable as possible. But that’s not all. They also offer a fantastic financial assistance program that helps alleviate any financial concerns you may have about your dental appointments. They work tirelessly to find the best financial options that suit your needs, making it easier for you to take care of your dental health without worrying about the cost.
I have had multiple appointments of various types with this office, and have left nearly every single one a little uncomfortable and frustrated. Their techs don't seem well-trained and their dentists treat my mouth like a Corolla at a Valvoline- rushed, and not very gentle. The receptionists are kind enough to your face, but I have heard them talk badly about patients they have just finished speaking to on the phone while other patients were in the waiting room. I work a customer service job, and I get it, sometimes you have to complain, but it's common courtesy to do that out of the earshot of patients. The dental care I received (when I actually recieved it) was alright, but I have left upset a few too many times for my liking. Really appreciated how transparent they were about insurance and pricing, though. I always left with an itemized list for recommended treatments.
Before scheduling, I recommend reviewing publicly available patient feedback on platforms like Yelp to better understand others’ experiences with this practice. I visited for a routine cleaning and evaluation, having consistently maintained regular dental checkups every six months without prior major concerns. During my appointment, the hygienist was unavailable, so the cleaning was not completed as planned. The clinical evaluation itself was relatively brief, after which I was advised to return for additional procedures, including a crown and a deep cleaning. Due to staffing limitations that day, administrative staff assisted with discussing treatment options and associated costs. Based on this experience, I would encourage prospective patients to ask questions, request detailed explanations of recommended treatments, and consider obtaining a second opinion before proceeding with significant dental work.
I had a 7:45 AM appointment at Dentists at Hyde Park Plaza for my family member to have extractions completed. The patient was not called back until 9:10--nearly an hour and a half after arrival. No proactive communication was offered during that wait. At 8:45, asked the front desk about the delay. The only explanation given was that some patients are taking longer to wake up than expected--an explanation that should have been offered to the waiting room without prompting moments before. At 9:05, asked again. A receptionist began providing an update on a patient who was still sitting in the waiting room, not yet seen. When that was pointed out, another receptionist simply repeated the same scripted response. No meaningful answer was ever given. The patient was finally called back at 9:10, but the procedure did not begin immediately. No reassurances were provided. The doctor entered at 9:40--two full hours after the scheduled appointment--with no acknowledgment of the delay and no apology. The waiting room itself was overcrowded to the point where staff directed patients to wait in their cars due to lack of seating. That alone signals a scheduling and capacity problem that goes beyond one bad morning. At 10:40, received a text that the patient was ready. When walked towards building from the car, staff was already bringing the patient out in a wheelchair before confirming the responsible party was present and prepared to receive the patient. Transporting a post-sedation patient without first verifying the responsible party is there is not just poor service. It is a patient safety concern. The lack of transparency, the miscommunication, the overcrowding, and the absence of basic accountability at every level of this visit fell well below what patients and families deserve.
