My wife and I stayed here last year for an anniversary staycation. We are rewards members for other hotel chains, but wanted to try something different. The Moran was a great choice we made! The staff was truly awesome from check-in to check-out. Everytime we passed the front desk there was always someone there with a smile and greeting. The room was perfect and personalized with my name on the TV. We had an awesome view of City Center. The hotel was in walking distance from all the shops and restaurants. Would definitely love to go back here.
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Overall, had a really nice stay. The location was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly throughout my visit. We stayed on one of the higher floors, which gave us a beautiful view and made the experience even better. I also loved that there were so many restaurants and things to do right downstairs.

They are positioning this as a luxury hotel, but it is a 2-star hotel at best. The room was ok. The beds not horrible, but not great. The workout room is small and doesn't have a lot of equipment. It features washcloths instead of towels. The elevators are painfully slow. In the morning there was a guy waiting when I walked up, he was actually more freaking out. It took 5 minutes after I got there and he said he'd already been waiting 10 minutes. The valet is supposedly not associated with the hotel, but they are incredibly slow and don't offer an option to call ahead to have your car ready. Worst of all, they charged me $150 over what it says in my confirmation (I did nothing that would incur an incidental charge). I called to get this resolved and to get my hands on the receipt for my expense report (I was traveling for work) and I have not been successful so far. I have called and emailed and it has been over a week with no response. The location is great, but it is not worth the headache or the cost.
While I am writing this review, we are at the Moran. We have stayed here several times before, and the rooms and service have always been top notch; until today. We arrived, and the valet unloaded and brought our bags to the lobby. So far, so good. When we got to the registration desk, this is where the wheels jumped off. The girl at the desk could not find our reservation. Come to find out, she gave our room to someone else. She did say that she would give us an upgrade for our trouble. We waited and waited for the bell hop to bring our bags upstairs, which never happened. After getting tired of waiting, I played the role of customer and bell hop. Well, our upgraded room was anything but an upgrade. This is just a regular old room without the usual couch we have always had! We got the ice bucket to go and get some ice, and discovered that the ice machine does not work. We have enjoyed staying here in years past, and certainly hope we don’t have to start looking for a new Houston hotel.
Stayed in for a night, area is great if you’re trying to relax. Rooms are clean, hotel lobby and staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest plus is the area the hotel is in. Plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. Only con I can give it is the walls on the rooms are thin. You can hear people in the hallway, outside, etc. Overall 8.5/10.
