Exceeded our expectations: From the lobby & library bar's first class service, to the doorman, the rooms, the views... this place has it all! Catch Detroit's version of the L-Train (called the People Mover) right at this hotel. No need for your own car as everything is walkable, or public transportation accessible... and don't forget Uber, too. This convenient location is situated right next to everything downtown, including the sports venues (all of them), yes, its that close. We had a wonderful visit and are already looking forward to returning. Welcome to Detroit! It's beautiful here!
Spent two weekends night there. The hotel is beautiful. My city view room was very nice but the TV volume was not working well and making strange noises. When I mentioned it to the front desk, they sent up a technician who could not fix it. Never heard from the front desk again . No offer of a room change or any type of accommodation. They didn’t seem to care. When I checked out, I suggested that they not book the room again until it was fixed. Had the front desk been more caring, would have rated this hotel 5 stars . Please fix it - avoid Rm .505!

Don’t waste your money It’s advertised as a five star hotel After about an Hour of checking in Felt more like a three star I visited the hotel from my wife’s birthday It was absolutely stunning. Don’t get me wrong. I had it arranged that there would be a large bouquet of flowers for her on our arrival There was none After no answer from the concierge desk I decided to run downstairs and figure out what was the issue? I was told that they attempted to get flowers, but when they didn’t have white roses, they just scrapped the ideal altogether I asked why wouldn’t you contact me and we could figure something else out And very passive aggressively I was told by a young man in a suit and glasses I don’t really know what you want me to do Do you want me to call and find you some flowers? I politely said no thank you and returned to my room With the exception of the doorman I will say the staff there is very unfriendly It seems as though any questions you have is a huge inconvenience to them Anyways, if you wanna check out the David Whitney Walk in and walk out You’ll get the gist of it My last day was at the Shinola Now that’s a Five star hotel I’ll never be back to the David Whitney
Absolutely my fav hotel in downtown Detroit. The location, customer service, vibe and just the over all attention to detail are always top tier! The staff for above and beyond to make each visit special. I stayed for my birthday recently and they left a charcuterie box with a HBD note in my room. The hotel/rooms feel like old money. So classy and well appointed but still very modern. Can't wait until my next stay.
Our stay at the Hotel David Whitney was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The staff was very welcoming, the room was spotless and beautifully decorated, and the bed was absolutely awesome. The location is also perfect for exploring the area! Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an exceptional experience. While there be sure to stop at the library bar and visit Kevin the bartender to to off your stay!
