The GM building in downtown Detroit is one of those places you think you know until you actually walk inside. Everybody talks about the tall glass towers and the view of the river, but not many mention how the lobby feels like its own little city—shops, cars on display, random spots to sit and people-watch. It’s not just a business building; it kind of feels like a mix of a museum and a mall. At night the lights hit different, especially from the riverfront side—it almost looks futuristic. Parking can be a pain, but once you’re there it’s worth it just for the vibe and the energy around it.
We were there at 12 when it showed that they would be open and allowing people to ride but no one ever showed up to run the carousel. We waited for 30 min and then moved on. Sad it wasn’t running when they said it would be.

We had a nice time today. It was a little cold but it was so peaceful by the water. I can’t wait for spring.
Beautiful in the early morning. Just to sit and think hear the birds chirping, boats in the background and the water hitting the pier . There is plenty of seating, and many are up on their morning run this morning. Everything is maintained so beautifully. Short walk to the GM Renaissance Center. And the Carousel 🎠 is picture perfect.
