Hensen is a genius with cars and an extremely straight shooter. Now, that said, if you're looking for a business that opens at 8am, has a billing platform that sends you text messages about the process all day, and has a cute girl at the front desk to take your money - head up the street. This is a real mechanic. They'll get there when they get there, and you'll be thankful to have them find the time in their schedule to give you a straight answer on your ride. If communication and flexible hours are your top priority, there are other mechanics that focus on that. If you're willing to wait a bit for a real solution to a complicated problem at a fair price, you've found your shop.
I've gotten work done by Graham several times over the years, and have always been incredibly satisfied and impressed with the quality of work. Most recently, I brought my 2004 CRV in for a bunch of routine work I had been neglecting for years. I was expecting to get just a transmission flush, brake fluid flush, valve adjustment, and some other minor fixes. There ended up being many other issues that I knew were on the horizon, and Graham thoroughly explained each repair, making it clear what was the greatest priority. In the end, I ended up getting my brakes done, some suspension work, fixed an oil leak, and a few other fixes. Did it suck to have more work than expected? Of course! But the entire process was made easier by Graham's communication and transparency I'm very satisfied, and will continue to go to Hansen for work in the future.

I used them several times for my car in the last few years with no problem (oil changes, brakes, etc). A small shop but they were fair and nice. Late last year I made an appointment in advance for some basic maintenance, arrived on time and the shop was closed. Another customer was there as well and just as confused as me. I called and left a message, stuck around for an hour and called again. They NEVER called me back. I wasted several hours of my time and my friend's time who was nice enough to drive me and wait while I hoped the place would open. Reader: they never opened. There is no excuse. If you're a small shop, have simple protocols in place to ensure you are opening on time and if not, have the ability to answer the phone. Maybe something happened but there is no excuse for not calling and letting me know. Communication is key. They're a small shop, maybe they were sick, who knows. But call a customer back. Honestly, I thought the business had closed. I can't believe they're still in business if they leave their customers high and dry. They were so nice but I can't be ghosted when it comes to car repair. I had my brakes done and if there is an issue with the work in the future I'm screwed and that is really frustrating and disappointing.
Update: did I have them do the work? No. But did Graham call and try to make it right. Yes. Stepped away from Les Schwab for this mechanic who said “oh yeah I’ll give you a cheaper price, bring it at 10am sharp Tuesday and we’ll work on it probably get it back Wednesday.” It’s now 10:30 and the business ISN’T EVEN OPEN! Called multiple times no answer, I had to leave because I had to get to work. I’m really mind blown, Graham seemed so professional on the phone, they have amazing reviews, so I planned my work week around it. I’m the first 1 star review ever, now I have wasted a whole morning, car didn’t get fixed and I learned my lesson. NEVER trust local mechanics. I really don’t want to leave this review but the experience is such an inconvenience to my personal life I..I just have to.
I dropped my oil cap in my engine bay and couldn’t find it. I showed up at Hansen’s right before closing time. They found the cap for me by removing the bottom plate. They even topped off my oil and didn’t charge me anything. Super grateful. Not sure what I would have done if they hadn’t helped.
