Always an incredible stay! We came down from Washington for a family vacation and made reservations for the mini suite and graveyard ghost tour on July 18th-19th. 10/10 experience. The ghost tour wasn’t quite as in depth as pre covid days, but still so much fun to hear about the history of the ship and the spirits that reside there! David and Chris led an amazing tour and made sure our time was a great one. David is so knowledgeable of the ship’s history and I learned so much from him that I didn’t learn before. Chris was very funny and kept things less scary :) A great pair. Dinner at the Chelsea was lovely and our room was quaint and quiet. The only somewhat downside is the lack of AC in each room, but that is to be expected of course. When I called the front desk for fans, they brought them immediately and they were very helpful. Thank you to the staff who always makes it such a fun stay. We will be back!
The Queen Mary has a personality all its own. I was there photographing a bridal session, and it couldn't have been a better backdrop. Everywhere I turned there was another amazing location, from polished wood walls and vintage staircases to long hallways with just the right amount of character. The mix of Art Deco elegance and the ship's rich history gave every photo a timeless feel. I also enjoyed walking the decks and looking out over the harbor. It's easy to imagine what it must have been like when this grand ocean liner was crossing the Atlantic with thousands of passengers on board. The ship definitely shows its age in places, but for me that's part of the charm. It feels authentic instead of overly restored, and every creak and weathered detail seems to tell another story. Whether you're into history, architecture, photography, or just exploring somewhere different, there's plenty to appreciate here. Just don't be surprised if you find yourself wandering a little longer than you planned...this ship has a funny way of convincing you there's one more hallway or staircase worth checking out.
It's a wonderful place to visit. Some much history with a lot of craftsmanship. The docents are extremely knowledgeable. Some tour areas are not ADA accessible. We did not stay onboard, but had drinks and dinner. The bar area was very nice and the server was friendly. The dining room was also nice and service was good. The food was okay, but not great. It is more of an experience than food.
It's a great experience. I wouldn't recommend staying more than 2 or 3 night max though. There is no climate control in the rooms. So no AC/heat. We only had ONE plugin that worked. So we had to rotate charging electronics on one plug. Keep your window open at all times to keep air circulation in your room. The restaurants are for rich people with $300 wine bottles that you can get cheaper at the grocery store. There is no housekeeping that we seen. So you have to ask for more towels at the desk. Its very vintage and they try to keep the old feel. So keep that in mind
