A unique hotel. Good location and walking to the convention center isn't too far. The decor is fun and very "birdy" it all reminds me of an aging hipster. The room was comfortable and cozy. I like many of the lamps had dimmers to create a nice mood and convenience lighting at night. Room didn't have enough outlets for 4 guests needs and the bedside birdcage lamp was too big and in the way. Rooftop bar was nice and relaxing, drinks were good but the prices for food both in the restaurant or bar were just a bit too high. We went elsewhere for eating every night.
My wife and I had a true 5 star experience. The hotel is beautiful. We stayed in a king suite and it was the ultimate luxury experience. The staff were very attentive to us and responded to their concierge text messages promptly and effectively. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and they did an amazing job of making her feel special with prosecco (we paid for this), a bottle of wine (on the house), and a nice handwritten note. The style and furniture in the room was very cool and the layout of the suite was grand. Great staff - friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast service delivered to our room. The bartenders at the attached bar/restaurant were generous, kind, and skilled.

I stayed at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh during a quick trip, and it turned out to be a nice experience. The room had a clean, modern feel, and the bed was comfortable enough that I slept better than I expected. The staff at the front desk were friendly and easy to talk to without being overly formal. The hotel has a bit of personality in its design, which made it feel different from the usual places I stay. The location was convenient too—I was able to walk to a few spots without needing a car. Overall, it was a relaxed and pleasant stay. Nothing too fancy, but definitely comfortable and enjoyable.
We are now hardcore devotees of Kimpton properties. For our wedding we stayed at a k Kimpton Marlowe in Boston. It was an incredible, luxurious property with wonderful hospitality from every member of the staff. So when we were road tripping cross country (a mini honeymoon), we decided to give a try to this Kimpton Monaco property in Pittsburgh. The feel is very different but no less luxurious. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The shower and giant bathtub in the "King's spa suite" was the most unbelievable shower and bath experience I've ever had in a hotel. Giant two person soaking tub with an entire room sized shower. While these accommodations are wonderful, The staff here are what's truly incredible! A brief story to illustate: They have a free cocktail hour with some delicious food and a signature cocktail. I got there at the tail end of it and got myself some snacks and a drink. I put it down just to run to the restroom and had told a staff member to leave it there but by the time I came back one of the wonderful and detail-oriented cleaning staff had already cleaned it up. Rather than telling me I was out of luck because cocktail hour was over and they'd gotten rid of all the food and drink they just called down to the restaurant and the bar and has new drinks and new food made for us and delivered to our room. They really didn't have to do that. It was free food that got lost in the first place but they wanted me to have the experience of that delicious welcome to the hotel and that was incredibly kind of them. This hotel also happens to be in a great location easily walkable to a lot of wonderful restaurants and activity. All in all, we are lifelong devotees of the Kimpton brand
I have mixed experience with our 2 night stay at the hotel. Let’s start with the positive. The hotel itself is very cute and I really much like the vibe and hallway decor and our room. The staff is very friendly and try their best to accommodate us. Complimentary daily tea/coffee near lobby and I believe there is also complimentary alcohol drink. The “not so good”: The room has an “old” smell when we came in. The air con in our room kept turning off after running a bit so the room gets very quiet and stuffy and we barely slept the first night here even though we already tried to adjust the temperature/fan. The hotel staff did provide a standing fan which helped. We came to celebrate our one year anniversary, I did communicate in advance as a surprise for my partner and was told there would be a bottle of wine. Check-in, went to room. Nothing. But after we communicated with the staff, we ended up getting a bottle. The shower, water pressure is a bit low and water isn’t very hot. The way shower design makes all the floor all wet. We had to put some towels down.
