Our Roost experience was a wonderful surprise when we recently visited Detroit for our first time. My wife and I have done a great deal of travel in our day and we can say that this was the single most comfortable stay that we have ever experienced. Not only was the property a magnificent example of period architecture, it was impeccably restored and immaculately kept. Our room, a one bedroom suite, was comfortable enough to have made it our pied-à-terre – unusually spacious with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom with walk-in closet and good-sized bathroom. It also had a stackable washer/dryer in the additional hallway closet, The property has excellent security considerations throughout, several restaurants and bars, and a very convenient downtown location. There's also an incredible french pastry shop named Cannelle, just a one-minute walk away. The concierge desk at Roost was always occupied by warm, polite, and competent people. They were happy to arrange for a car to take us to the airport at 6:00am when we departed. And finally, Roost is a remarkably good value!
Wish I could post the video I have to show the noise levels, but— I am on floor 22 and can still hear the music at this hotel’s rooftop bar, Kamper’s, extremely loud through my windows. In fact, it’s so loud, it out-did my sound machine. You can’t have a rooftop bar with an outside DJ in the same space you house residents and hotel guests. So many people have written reviews about this and no one has done anything about it so the only other option is to bring it to the attention of future guests. If you value sleep or even the ability to watch your own TV without outside noise avoid this place.

I'd like to leave a compliment for one of your amazing receptionist Stephanie. I've been staying at the Roost for 3 months now for 2 week each month for work and Stephanie always provides great customer service!! She always greet others with a smile and is just amazing. She makes sure for the entire stay I'm taken care of and remembers me, calls me by name when I walk in and out making me feel at home away from home. If there are upgrades available she'll upgrade me or make sure any request I have is met. You have an excellent receptionist that knows how to give exceptional customer service. I'm always happy to return because I know she's going to take great care of me and give me great information with what's going on at the hotel. Thank you Stephanie keep making your customers feel loved and welcomed and Happy Birthday this weekend!!
I stayed here the weekend of March 7, 2026 to attend the Chris Botti concert. I originally booked my room through Expedia. However, a few days before my stay while reviewing the amenities of the hotel I discovered they had a lower rate than what II had booked. I was going to be downtown later that week and decided to stop by the and inquire. At the guest check-in I encountered a lovely gentleman named Devon who confirmed they did indeed have a lower rate than what I had booked. As I had booked a queen suite he asked if I preferred a city view as the queen rooms are inside and don’t have windows. He said for their rate I could book a king for a lower rate than booked on Expedia, so of course I wanted to upgrade my room. Additionally, he stated if I joined their rewards program I would realize additional savings. I truly appreciated that and so signed up for their rewards program and yes there was an additional savings. I had to cancel my reservation through Expedia before rebooking. And although I still had three days to cancel without paying let me say Expedia did not make it easy to do so! Every link I clicked on their site to cancel, it was mysteriously “found in error” or simply not functioning. I explained this to Devon and being that he was an expert at what he does he was able to find a link where I could cancel and then rebook my room. Devon was the epitome of professionalism, kindness and patience and exactly the type of employee you want to have that enhances the customers experience while benefiting the company. By him taking the time to assist I saved almost 150 for the night! I live in the suburbs but was just testing myself to a staycation. Invited some of my friends and family to come join me prior to my concert. We had food and cocktails at Sakazuki, a Japanese style pub…a first. Everything was delicious! Then we hung out at the lobby bar and ordered a few cocktails. It was very busy but again our service was amazing! I had a wonderful weekend and it started out with Devon, whom I truly appreciated. I would truly recommend staying at the Roost and checking out their on site restaurants. I have previously eaten at Le Supreme and at the rooftop tapas bar Kampers. Plan to go back to eat at HIROKI-SAN which is on their lower level.
Settled in beautiful downtown Detroit in such a wonderful building full of history. The decor and ambience is amazing. You feel as if you are partially stepping back in time here alittle. Rooms are gorgeous and worth it especially if you need to be downtown for a game or concert. Such a beautiful place and happy that it belongs to Detroit.
