The Consulate is a top notch experience from food to service. This unique concept offers a variety of food options on a rotating 90 day menu. There is a standing resident menu also, but this cycle was Jamaica. The oxtail stew was amazing! The Oddjob cocktail was the perfect compliment to the dish! I will definitely be back! Little to no wait, however I definitely suggest making reservations.
One of the best talking points of this place is how easy it is to park and walk to the restaurant. A big plus is that they validate your parking with the connected parking deck. Good job on making it easy for people to come to you. Now on to the food. This is been on my list for many years and we finally got to go. Honestly, looking at the big picture and comparing it to the prices, the food was just pretty good for the most part. Definitely not " blow your mind" amazing! And definitely not worth the prices in my honest opinion. The service was really good as expected The atmosphere of the restaurant was really cool The star of the show was the fried potato patties with the beef stuffing. Although this is an expensive appetizer, I would definitely pay for this again. Everything else, not really justifies the cost but to each their own. Obviously, you definitely pay a premium eating at this restaurant in downtown Atlanta versus somewhere else. All in all, this is a definitely good restaurant to try and see for yourself. Obviously, the theme of this restaurant is a really cool part and everyone can have a different experience there depending on when they go and for what country.

My bf and I try to come at once a quarter to try the new menus. Right now they have Jamaican through 4/1 (1 month longer than usual) which our waitress said is partially due to how popular the menu is. I know she's supposed to hype but the place was PACKED on a WEDNESDAY and this was perhaps the best experience I've had in all my years eating here. The coconut milk marinated rice and peas, jerk chicken, gift of the moons pork belly, escovitch, and island Shepard skillet were all wonderfully seasoned and packed full of flavor. The service was fast and attentive, the decor is always a hoot to observe, and I'll be back before 4/1 to try the curry goat and oxtail soup.
The atmosphere is the star of the show for your experience at The Consulate and the food is a close second. The beverage selection has a bit to be desired. According to our lovely server there is a new beverage director being hired, but in the meantime I would manage your expectations that they likely won’t have your preferred drink. Moving on, the rotating food menu and country orientation is very fun. The food was delicious despite then having an “issue” in the kitchen which caused the food to come out quite slowly. If we had been able to enjoy a cocktail it may not have felt like such a long delay for the food. When it arrived it was quite tasty. The ambience is wonderful and the wait staff was slightly above average but pretty good for being so young. The restaurant is quite small and intimate which is lovely. It has a lounge area to wait in for your table.
My husband and I went to The Consulate for our 10 year anniversary and I will tell you that we had such an incredible experience. JB was our server and he was PHENOMENAL!! He patiently answered our numerous questions, provided insight on his top suggestions and made sure that we had an enjoyable experience from the minute he greeted us until we left. The food was spectacular! I got the lamb (the pharaoh’s share) and my husband got the arroz con mariscos. They were both delicious but JB was right, the lamb is top notch. I mean we were talking about how good it was the next day, so that’s how you know lol. We will definitely be back!! Thank you for making our anniversary extra special!
