I stayed Jul 26, 2026 - Jul 28, 2026 First thing we learned on arrival you have to pay to park on property. As we walked up the sidewalk we were greeted by hundreds of roaches, one of which crawled onto my girlfriends leg as we walked in. Points for the beautiful lobby. Elevator had crusted over lo mein in it. Our first room had black mold in the shower and toilet, an extremely badly stained couch (that the photos do not do justice), very dirty countertops, white fluid splatter on the headboard, blood on the wall, and in the lamp shade, and dust/grime everywhere, and the balcony was flooded and dipped in the center. Front desk was very inhospitable and cold but changed our room. The next room was definitely cleaner, but still questionable. The hotel seems in a dilapidated state generally. After getting up to our new floor we saw a blood smudge on the wall, then the lamp in the hall, door ways, wall boards, etc. Like someone had stumbled to their room bloodied. We followed the trail but lost it in between rooms. So bonus points for the murder mystery side quest. That night we went for ice and found that our ice room had a rotted ceiling with a pipe leaking onto the floor and machine. We go to the next floor for ice and upon walking into the room we both feel a wave of dizziness. Need less to say well scrambled out of there without ice. The next day we go to a concert and return to the hotel for our last night stay. As my girlfriend is getting ready to shower I see a black dot on her leg.. then another.. and another. Our room was infested with fleas. That had been the final straw for us and we went down to the lobby to check out early. The front desk attendant was quick to interrupt, shut us down and send us on our way. I was told someone would reach out the next day via call or email to get some kind of reimbursement/follow up. Its been almost two weeks now. This hotel is a pig in lipstick. Any motel is better, cleaner, and more affordable for what you get.

Hello, I don't usually write reviews for things but I felt inclined to write a review for this place specifically. My Fiancé and I were looking for a luxury hotel to stay at in Charlotte because we visit here often. We were blessed to see that Priceline gave us an amazing deal for this hotel specifically. At first we were excited because usually we skimp for lower end hotels to save money, but this time we felt like treating ourselves. This hotel is not luxury. If you're looking for luxury, but affordable, please book a different area. The lobby is very deceiving, by the time you get to your room you're going to want to tell yourself that this place is nice because of the lobby, but it's not. These are just a couple photos from our trip, not including the roaches that we saw, the phone in our room that did not work so we could not utilize the room service, and our tv was wonky; sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. On top of all of this, the amenities were severely lacking, there was no in-room microwave, the ice machine on our floor did not work, the water kind of smelled weird, and the "free Wi-Fi" that they advertise is not actually free; it's $10 a day. The actual free Wi-Fi is only good for "sending emails" or sending texts, you cannot utilize social media, you cannot stream movies or shows; it was just awful. Sure, that's fine just watch cable, but even that cut out a couple of times during our trip. The pool has not been kept up very well; the indoor pool had leaky rusty pipes over it and instead of replacing the pipes management put pieces of fabric under them to minimize the amount of rusty water that enters the pool. The water is cloudy, there is algae growing at some parts of the pool, the ground was dirty, and in the female restroom both of the toilets were backed up with feces all the way to the toilet seat (I could have attached a photo of that but I felt like that would be too graphic), the repair of the wall in the indoor area was also not finished. Along with everything mentioned, the location of the hotel is pretty lack luster. The surrounding area isn't very well kept and it's riddled with homelessness; every time me and my Fiancé were leaving the hotel it seemed like there was always someone on the corner panhandling us. I never felt unsafe around them but after awhile it was bothersome and disheartening to continuously see. I feel like there are so many things that I can complain about with this hotel, but I will say the staff were very very sweet, I never had a single problem with any of the staff on duty. Management needs to up their game if they want to label this hotel as a higher end hotel. As of now me and my Fiancé will not return here. Image 1: Broken ice machine. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The room wasn’t clean, and to make matters worse, there was black mold on the shower ceiling. Several of the ice machines on different floors were also out of order. The pool area rarely had towels available, even though guests repeatedly requested them throughout the day. The property itself was in poor condition. There was a hole in the hallway ceiling, and in the middle of the night I was startled by a loud crash when the decorative border above the bathroom fell from the ceiling. It was also very difficult to reach the front desk whenever we needed assistance. The furniture was old, worn, and dingy, making the room feel even less clean. I’m usually very thorough when researching and selecting hotels, so I’m honestly surprised this one had the ratings it did. Based on my experience, I would not recommend staying here.
Alex was an incredible bartender- very attentive & social. The food was incredible (we had the salmon and roasted chicken.) He made my stay at sonesta better than I imagined, thank you alex for being such a kind person! Side note of the hotel- it is SO comfortable, centrally located, and easy to book. Thank you sonesta!! I’ll be back :)
We had a great dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Excellent food and even better service! Samuel was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. He made our dining experience memorable. Thank you, Samuel!
