I visited this museum on a lazy weekday morning, and it wasn’t too busy at the time. I had a chance to peruse the exhibit without any interruptions. It’s a fairly small museum, but they do manage to pack a lot of information about Kurt Vonnegut into the place. I have to admit to not being as familiar with the author beforehand as I ought to have been, but the museum helped to fill in the blanks. It’s focused much more on the man than his works, but there’s plenty of charm there. The videos they had playing of him giving a commencement speech were very interesting and entertaining, and you could tell how witty Kurt was. The first floor is mostly the gift shop area and I’d recommend starting from the third floor and working down. This museum is a must see location if you’re already familiar with the author, and I’d say it’s still worth a visit even if you’re not.
This was #1 on my attractions in Indy list & I'm so glad i made it! We made it in for Free Visit Mondays (first Monday of each month) ! What a great exhibit with passionate staff. My mom and I spent a good maybe two hours exploring the 3 levels. I think my favorite memorabilia was his actual type writer that you are allowed to try out. A lot of great art as well. They also have a little bar with coffee and alcohol. I will say though, yall are severely missing an opportunity by not having any merch with "So it goes" on it, and or "everything was beautiful and nothing hurt." Those are my favorite quotes and i was a lil sad there wasnt more of that incorporated. Would've loved a little gravestone tee or sticker with one of those slogans. I did however purchase 3 books and another sticker :) happy to have been able to experience this and it's very appreciated to see the activism and education that this establishment brings. Thank yall so much! Hope it stays open forever!

Harrison Bergeron was the main reason I came to this museum. It's ultimately a tribute to Billy Pilgrim and Slaughterhouse 5, and rightfully so. You get a true glimpse into how Vonnegut grew up and began to think about the world critically, through his letters which are displayed in a timeline along the third floor. I understand there might be some limitations, but I wish there was more of a dedication to his other works of art. Again, Harrison Bergeron is the reason I came. I pretty much had the place to myself on a Monday morning.
I happen to be a Kurt Vonnegut fan, so when I had to go to Indianapolis, it was number one "must visit" on my list. I was happy with my choice. I learned new things about b one b of my favorite authors. It was quiet and I didn't feel rushed as I went through the exhibits. It had a nice gift shop. The workers were knowledgeable and friendly.
What a wonderful tribute to one of the best authors that ever lived. Many times I was moved to tears in this, not just from excitement but from the stories shared within the exhibits. Each floor was exciting and new, offering different insight into KV’s life. Lots of awesome items on display, such as his personal typewriter and numerous copies of Cats Cradle in different languages. The gift shop had the best gifts for any KV fan and even some books you don’t see very often. The young woman in the gift shop was super friendly and made our visit seamless. I will absolutely be back! Loved this place!
