This was such an amazing experience! I got to visit with some friends while visiting Columbus and I had a fantastic time. My great uncle, Clifton Sharpe, was once a Captain with the 1st Station, and I contacted this museum upon his passing and hearing stories about him from my Nana. They were kind enough to mail us some of his records and place a paving stone with his nickname (The Hammer!) out front. I was finally able to visit in January of 2026 and our tour guide, Clemont, was fantastic. He was fun, energetic, and full of knowledge. We learned about the history of firefighting and emergency services, and some new things about fire safety that I as a full adult did not know! Get the guided tour if you're stopping in, everyone was so kind and helpful.
This small hidden gem is crammed with interesting pieces. I spent a wonderful hour learning many new things about the evolution of firefighting and the history of Columbus. They offer self and guided tours. Take the guided tour, you won't be sorry!

This is a fantastic hidden gem in Columbus! I absolutely love the history preserved here. The museum does an incredible job of showcasing the evolution of firefighting through their impressive collection of historical engines and equipment. Whether you are a history buff or just looking for a unique outing, this place is well worth the visit. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about sharing these stories. It's a wonderful way to learn about the history of Columbus and the important role these brave firefighters have played in our community.
Nice collection of older firefighting equipment. Some old trucks. Staff are very friendly.
We had a blast at the Central Ohio Fire Museum. We were surprised to learn that they provide guided tours throughout the day (included in the price of admission), but the tour absolutely made the experience! It was fun, engaging, interactive, and interesting for all generations (including our 2-year-old). Great way to spend a Saturday morning as a family!
