The place itself is located on a hill, so views are gorgeous! Area is maintained and the pools/various hot tubs located around the property with waterfalls were also a nice view walking around! Check in went smooth, and staff helped with finding close parking to room/directions! The rooms themselves weren't exactly what I'd expect from a 'resort' style hotel, but definitely weren't bad! Standard room was Comfortable enough for sleep. However, not much sound dampening so could hear people in the hall pretty clearly.
I would not consider this property to be a true “resort.” The pool areas are extremely small—so much so that guests are often shoulder to shoulder, which takes away from the relaxing experience one would expect. Additionally, the overall resort-style presentation could benefit greatly from renovations, as certain areas feel outdated and not up to standard. The layout of the property involves a significant number of stairs, which may be challenging for some guests and could even present a safety concern. On a more positive note, the hotel does offer beautiful views, and the room itself was well-maintained and comfortable. The restaurant appears to be a standout feature and likely one of the main highlights of the property. However, the level of service from the staff did not meet expectations, as interactions felt less welcoming than anticipated. I also encountered an issue with the cancellation policy. I made a same-day booking for July 3 and inquired about a refund shortly after, but was told I needed to have canceled by July 1, which was both confusing and frustrating. The policy did not feel reasonable under the circumstances. Overall, while there are a few positive aspects, the experience did not align with the expectations set by the term “resort.” If a full refund were possible, I would have strongly considered it.

Came here with a group of family for a birthday celebration in Phoenix. I cannot say enough good about this property. Everything was clean and well maintained. Rooms were larger than most and very nicely outfitted. Our entire family, all rented rooms, no one had a single issue with this hotel. Its close to the airport, check-in was courteous and prompt, rooms were clean and nicely updated, restaurant food and staff were great, pool was large and felt like a tropical paradise, provided hours of fun for the family. Even the giftshop was nice and had what we needed. Be prepared to walk a bit, and it takes a few hours to get the layout down. The property itself is absolutely beautiful with murals and a variety of desart plants. It has a wonderful view of the city from the bridge and offers a short on-property hike with some great views for the adventurers. Highly recommend staying here. We loved it and will certainly be back.
Stayed at the Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes and had a really great experience overall. The property is unique being built right into the mountain, which gives it an awesome quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The pools were great, especially the waterfalls — definitely one of the highlights of the stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. I only had breakfast at the resort, but the omelette was excellent and the coffee was surprisingly really good too. One thing I really enjoyed was the hiking trails right on the mountain. Nice bonus if you like getting outside in the morning or evening. The only downside is the location if you’re someone who likes to walk to restaurants or entertainment. Since the resort is tucked into the mountain area, you pretty much have to drive anywhere off property. But honestly, if you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a more relaxing resort feel, that actually becomes a positive.
This was my first time staying here. I must say the property was nice, however there was very limited parking which was an extra fee. There was also too many people at the pools. It came to light that even though we were given wrist bands that were supposed to be for entry to the pools it was not enforced at all. So people let their whole extended families and friends just come on in even though they were not staying at the hotel. There were no available chairs or towels. I know it was a holiday weekend but wrist bands should be enforced to keep the crowd at a decent level. All the vending machines were not working and we not able to buy water. We will not be returning to this property.
