Lovely grounds and staff, the pools were small, but relaxing. Had a great time spending most of our trip just hanging around the pool and downstairs bar playing darts and other games. But my goodness were the rooms horrendous. My whole group was shocked no one says anything about the beds in the reviews. It felt like your college friend dragged a used mattress off the street and put it on wooden pallets for a bed. I think that's very possibly what these beds are. I've never sat on a mattress before and thought, boy I could actually go for a few more springs. The beds sagged so low that they almost touched the ground. Each bed only got three pillows, and when we called to ask for a couple more (since the pillows are so flat and old) and the front desk told us they didn't have any extras because the hotel was running out. Also paper thin walls and absolutely no regulation or monitoring for noise. Kids under 6 were running around the hallway alone at 7 am playing and teens were singing collective showtunes in their room at 11 pm. The rooms were clean, but so old and dusty and desperately need intervention. This place is wonderful and I see why it gets good reviews for a lot of reasons, but please be warned for any sort of sleeping situation.
We had a wonderful stay at McMenamins Edgefield! Even though we live in the Portland area, we found that staying overnight was absolutely worth it rather than just reserving the soaking pool. The soaking pool was one of our favorite parts of the experience, relaxing, well maintained, and the perfect way to unwind. We also enjoyed the golf course, which was fun and in great condition. One of the best things about Edgefield is that there is so much to do without ever leaving the property. We loved bar hopping between the different bars and pubs, each with its own unique atmosphere. It felt like a little getaway with plenty to explore. If you're considering a weekend escape near Portland, I highly recommend staying the night. The combination of the soaking pool, golf, great food and drinks, and the unique McMenamins atmosphere makes it a memorable experience.🥳

Stopped in to check it out. They have a little bar called the Red Shed. Very cool little bar thay sells cigars. Inside and outdoor seating but only smoking available outside. The McMenamins locations are super cool and this one is one of the best. It's huge with its own winery, brewery and lots of gardens and cool hotel and restaurants. If you're looking for an amazing place to check out this needs to be on your list. Very close to PDX and plenty of parking. Check it out...you'll like it. I guarantee it!
Per the friend that took me - an old renovated schoolhouse. Every turn here, there was another lovely pub, store, restaurant, neat seating space, etc. the porches were lovely. We ate at the outdoor restaurant at happy hour, it was delicious and the tap beer 10/10. The grounds also had a few gardens (flowers, veggies, etc) that were very beautiful to see. Awesome spot - has another open area to left with live concert space and food trucks.
Our room was unbearably hot. I did not notice the disclaimer that rooms do not have air conditioning. Our stay was during a heat wave that made it impossible to be comfortable. Otherwise, we enjoyed the unique atmosphere and the staff was top notch. We will check the weather before our next stay.
