I’m not sure if it was the fact our room was booked through points, and we were given the worst of the worst, but it was a night to forget. Our first room is located on 18th floor and upon walking into the room we were hit with a disgusting smell of cigar/cigarettes, and spilled alcohol. After going back to the front desk, and getting another room, we walked into it on the third floor, and it felt like we were walking into an ice box. The heater was not working, and even the thermostat on the wall was not working. There was also a piece of the heater attached with chords underneath it. After leaving that room, and going down to the lobby again to complain we were given another room on the ninth floor. The king suite room. We went into that room, dropped our luggage and went to eat supper. After dinner, we returned to the room where we can actually take a good look around. We should’ve stayed out for supper. The hotel room was dark, and dingy. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The bathroom door was swollen and falling apart. And the whole room was just nasty. I’ve stated this particular hotel multiple times in years previous, and never ever had an issue with it. I stay in multiple hotels for my work, and I’m noticing quite the decline lately. This particular hotel needs a total revamp. It’s gone way downhill.
This hotel is definitely higher than a three star The staff was super friendly. The view was amazing. The room was perfect but kinda small but not an issue for me . They even had the extra linen in the closet (some hotels forget that ) parking is across the street if it’s cold out bundle up hotel is connected to a amazing with good drinks

It seemed to be clean as it could. Stained grout and dusty vents not very appealing. Suite not suite quality. Hugh room. Appeared somewhat dated for the money. Very spacious and beautiful panoramic view of Detrot riverfront. Surface of room very clean. Bed comfort was firm, not fluffy. Good if you like firm which I did. I was told 100$ Deposit at check in, which would be refunded next day. They took a 200$ deposit and January 2 funds not refunded. I called and was told it could be a week or more. I asked about resort fees and parking when booking. I was td there was parking and no fees mentioned. It was public parking hotel charges $19 I could have declined and paid the city $8. I was also not told of the $30 resort fee. I definitely would not stay here again just because of the hidden charges they did not disclose.
We stayed overnight and had a room with the panoramic view.It was beautiful. The rooms are nice. Beds were comfortable. A little bit dated, fairly quiet elevators are a little bit slow, but there's many floors. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not included with your stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
My wife, two sons, and I rented rooms 1705 and 1706 from February 7 to February 9. We arrived at the hotel around 4:00 PM and received our room keys. When we entered the elevator to go to the 17th floor, the elevator suddenly stopped around the 9th floor. My wife began screaming in fear. I immediately called the front desk asking for help because the doors would not open and nothing was working. We were trapped inside. A staff member and later the manager told us only to wait. I called again and explained that my wife suffers from claustrophobia and panic attacks, but I was told the elevator service company might come in about 20 minutes. No one called the fire department or treated the situation as an emergency. We were stuck for about 30 minutes. Out of fear for our safety, we called 911 ourselves. The fire department arrived quickly and rescued us. My wife was crying, my sons were terrified, and as a father I felt completely helpless. After the incident, no hotel staff checked on us, apologized, or asked if we were okay. The only time they acted quickly was when taking payment. The experience ruined our weekend — my wife was so afraid afterward that she stayed in the room and refused to use the elevator again.
