Wonderful stay at the IC! Room was spacious. Staff was knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. I like to rate showers i search of my first 5-star shower... almost. I give it a 4.8. Show head was low (im 6 2) and it was a bit cramped... but water pressure and easy of getting the temp I wanted was excellent. I would stay again!
My friends and I booked our stay through the Amex travel portal to take advantage of the extra perks, but our trip started off a bit rough. We were initially placed in the Modern North tower, and while the city view was nice, the room was incredibly cramped with barely any space to maneuver. To make matters worse, the AC wasn't working; we made sure to turn it on before leaving for a tour, but when we returned, the room was still uncomfortably warm. We brought the issue to the staff, and they were very accommodating, quickly moving us to a different room in the Historic South tower. We unfortunately lost our city view, but the AC worked perfectly, and their excellent customer service really made up for the initial hassle. The hotel property as a whole definitely feels a bit old and dated, but the staff handled the situation perfectly. The unexpected highlight of the entire trip was the shower in our second room. The water pressure was unbelievably high and strong—honestly the best hotel shower experience I’ve ever had. Overall, this is a solid place to stay if you just want easy walking access to the downtown museums, but if you are looking for a modern or elevated room experience, you should probably check out some of the newer hotels nearby.

We stayed for business meetings with the family. Fantastic location to shop, tour, river boat. The family made a whole extended weekend out of the trip and we still would have had lots we didn't get to do. Location cannot be better. Rooms were nicely equipped. Not the largest but modern and acceptable as we spent majority of our time exploring. They have a pool and spa and MJ restaurant. Staff cleaned and answered our requests very well. I would highly recommend. Also it's easy to find because they always decorate and change the outside front entrance to a theme.
This is my second time staying at this hotel - first was for work so I didn't really consider any of this. Staying here as a guest on vacation was very disappointing for a number of reasons. For $300 a night, the service was garbage. Multiple attempts to call the desk, our requests for simple things like water were forgotten about and the staff was typically snappy and in a rush. The room was dated, the headboard was nasty and stained so we threw an extra blanket over it, the TV remote barely worked at all, the AC was rickety and loud, etc. The toilet paper and towel racks were broken and kept falling, and the bathtub was chipping. One minor complaint was the constant noise - obviously it's a busy city but there were constant sirens, speakers, loud cars, etc. The only benefit was the location and how close it was to so many great restaurants and cool areas. My biggest issue was an issue we had where a group of kids were running and screaming around our hallway and slammed into our door full force. The only staff who was on the floor had trouble communicating with the kids since english wasn't her first language, so we had to call security and let them know. It was genuinely frightening and out of nowhere, sounded like somebody was trying to break into our room. Overall not the worst hotel I've stayed in but definitely not worth it for the price. I feel like we should've gotten at least some of the stay comped or extra amenities for the weird experience with the kids but all we got was a lackluster update from the front desk who didn't seem to care much. Stay at the Swissotel if you can afford it.
I stayed here over Fourth of July weekend with my two teenage daughters. We were offered a room upgrade which we initially did not take. After seeing the double bed, my daughters decided it was too small to share, so we called the front desk and they allowed us to switch to the larger room, which was great! Unfortunately the larger suite had some water/AC/smell issues. Luckily they sent maintenance out, and the engineer was very thorough and helpful. He determined we should probably be in a different room due to the dampness in the room. The management was able to move us to a third room, which, as was the case for Goldilocks, was just right! My daughters and I had a very comfortable stay, and the manager gave us a generous credit toward hotel dining because of the trouble with the room. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. There are so many transportation, sightseeing, and restaurant options extremely close by. The pool was very very cool, though was quite crowded when we went. Understandably so! The fitness center looked clean and well appointed. We ordered in room dining and it was delicious!! Generous portions and very tasty food. Overall, very happy with our experience. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to be in the middle of it all, with easy access to the outskirts of the city (like the Chicago Bandits, the Chicago Stars, O'Hare, etc.).
