From my first conversation with Matt, many of my fears about the case fell away and I felt I had someone extremely competent on my side. As someone with almost no experience of legal proceedings of any kind, I was daunted by the stack of papers that had landed the week before, headed "Petition for Divorce." Matt's calm and his command of the subject as he took me through the details were beyond reassuring, and I can't overstate what that did for my state of mind at the time. The case went to Josh Avelar, and Josh has been incredible. My situation seemed fraught with complications I thought would be hard to navigate. My divorce came in the middle of a family move out of state, while we were also renovating and selling our house, so we were bridging law in two states at once. Josh was excellent at identifying the information that actually mattered. He explained things in plain language, and he was patient with the abundance of questions I had, which mattered enormously to me. On the morning of the hearing he called me early to walk me through exactly what would happen. I attended by Zoom from out of state, having never been in a courtroom in my life, and at no point did I feel lost. We settled temporary orders rather than fighting them out, and thanks to Josh's careful negotiating I’m extremely happy with terms we landed on. I'm very thankful to have had Josh and Matt on my side.
Matt handled my family law case and I really appreciated how he approached it clear communication throughout, straightforward about what to expect, and responsive whenever I had questions.
