Absolutely worth a visit if you’re exploring Chicago! The Skydeck is located on the 102nd floor, but the experience begins long before you reach the top. The walk to the elevators features fascinating exhibits, fun photo opportunities, and interactive displays that make the wait enjoyable. Once you step into the elevator, you’re surrounded by an incredible video display on the walls, making it easy to forget you’re even moving. The elevator is so fast that you’re at the top in less than a minute, which is amazing in itself. When you reach the 102nd floor, you’ll have the chance to step out onto the famous glass ledge. If you’re afraid of heights like I am, my advice is…don’t look down at first! I was terrified and almost talked myself out of it, but I’m so glad I went through with it. Standing out over the city was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Chicago. If you’re visiting Chicago, this is an attraction you definitely shouldn’t miss!
Willis Tower is definitely one of those iconic Chicago landmarks you have to see at least once. The building itself is impressive, and the views from the top are amazing. I really enjoyed the experience and getting to see Chicago from a completely different perspective. Definitely worth adding to your Chicago itinerary!

When I went to the Willis Tower in Chicago, I felt it was more than just a skyscraper, due it’s an experience that stays with you. The panoramic views from the Skydeck are spectacular, stretching across the city and even into neighboring states on clear days. Standing on the glass ledges was both nerve‑wracking and exhilarating, giving me a perspective of Chicago that no photo could ever capture. Buying tickets with the Chicago CityPASS turned out to be a smart choice, since it included entry to the Skydeck and saved me time in line. The tower is also easy to reach: the Quincy CTA station is right next door, and both Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center are within walking distance, so whether you’re coming from downtown or the suburbs, getting there is simple. For me, the best moment was visiting close to sunset. Watching the skyline shift colors as the sun dipped behind the horizon gave the city a magical glow. The Willis Tower isn’t just about height, it’s about connecting with Chicago’s bold character, its history, and its ambition. It’s a place that leaves you with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the city.
No trip to Chicago is complete without visiting the iconic Sears Tower (now officially Willis Tower, though it will always be the Sears Tower to me!). The entire experience from start to finish is incredibly well done. Before you even get to the top, the interactive museum-style exhibits on the lower level are highly informative and give you a wonderful appreciation for the city's rich history and architecture. The elevator ride up to the 103rd floor is incredibly fast, and once you step out onto the Skydeck, the 360-degree views are absolutely breathtaking. On a clear day, you can literally see for miles across four different states. The absolute highlight is "The Ledge"—stepping out into those clear glass boxes extending over the side of the building is a thrilling, heart-pounding rush that makes for unforgettable photos. Tip: Go early in the morning on a weekday to beat the heaviest crowds, or time it right before sunset to watch the city light up! It is worth every penny.
I thought we would just enter, go straight to the top, look around and that would be it. But there’s a whole exhibit (historical, fun and educational!) and photo ops before you even head up the elevator! It was much more than we expected! Plenty of opportunities to learn about the history, architecture of the buildings, and more of Chicago - not just the Willis Tower! Tickets are time stamped so either buy ahead of time or buy at the kiosk and depending on the day, you may wait a couple hours until its your turn so plan accordingly.
