We had significant water damage in our kitchen that affected our cabinets and flooring, and Dayton Builders Group made the entire restoration process seamless. Sam guided us to an excellent countertop and cabinet supplier, both of whom were incredibly professional and helped us find exactly what we wanted within our budget. April was amazing—she kept us informed every step of the way and worked closely with our insurance company to ensure we received the proper coverage. There were some challenges with insurance initially, but thanks to Sam and April’s persistence and expertise, they were able to get everything covered beyond just our deductible. Now, I absolutely LOVE my new kitchen! We highly recommend Dayton Builders Group for their professionalism, efficiency, and top-notch service.
Dayton Builders Group has completed multiple home renovation projects for us. Each one has turned out fantastic and was handle in a timely & professional manner, and at a fair & reasonable price. I would highly recommend them for any construction project. Photos attached here of a wet bar renovation that we are super pleased with!

My spouse and I hired Dayton Builders Group to convert our back porch into a screened-in patio. While we ultimately paid the full amount for the completed project, we felt compelled to share our experience for others considering this company. The Positives: The project was completed within the expected timeframe They did address some significant water damage by replacing rotted joists The Negatives: Poor materials quality: Multiple 2x4s used had significant defects including large voids and warping We chose a vinyl ceiling; however, my husband believes the installation of the J-channels is subpar. When we addressed this concern with the contractor, we were informed that this is a standard practice. We would have appreciated prior notification regarding the appearance of the installation, as we are not professionals in this area. Questionable workmanship: Fasteners began rusting almost immediately after installation, suggesting improper materials were used. Inadequate finishing: Paint application was inconsistent with visible wood showing through in multiple areas Unprofessional communication: When we raised legitimate concerns about quality, the owner responded defensively, suggesting we entered the agreement in "bad faith" and threatening legal action. When we documented and communicated our concerns with pictures, the owner dismissed most issues as being beyond the scope of work or claimed they resulted from our desire for a "more cost-effective build." While budget constraints certainly influenced our project decisions, we never agreed to compromise on basic quality and workmanship, but rather decided to go with a screened-in patio instead of a four-season room. The owner repeatedly referenced an original higher-priced proposal that would have addressed these issues, effectively suggesting that we shouldn't expect quality work at the price we paid. In our view, even a budget-conscious project should maintain reasonable standards of craftsmanship and material quality. What was most disappointing was the confrontational response to our concerns. Rather than working collaboratively to address the issues, the communication quickly escalated to legal threats and accusations. While we have now paid in full for the work, we cannot recommend Dayton Builders Group based on both the quality of work and how our concerns were handled. The first 6 pictures included were taken after they said the work was completed, and they were asking for the remaining balance. --Update-- The following images show gaps in the wood that were filled by the subcontractor with caulk. My husband agreed to this approach to expedite the subcontractor's departure, allowing me to contact the owner. As discussions with the owner were deteriorating, the subcontractor completed the work. We have experienced frustration with the contractor's handling of this situation. The owner subsequently requested the removal of this post, asserting that it contains false statements. Despite other reviews stating that April excels in communication, we would have appreciated more proactive communication. We found that there was minimal outreach from the team; it was primarily us asking questions about their schedule. Updates were only provided when we inquired. Additionally, the owner did not attend the final walkthrough, despite confirming that he would be present. Total cost for this work was $9,724.
We were referred to Dayton Builders almost 5 years ago when we were planning a rather extensive garage conversion (turned it into a master ensuite with walk in closet and carve out for a walk in pantry from the dining room). Owner Sam was flexible enough to do the initial quote with us on a video call with our representative in the house, since we were out of town for the season. The conversion was completed on time and on budget. He even went out of his way to get us custom millwork made to match the rest of the house. We loved our experience so much that we've had Sam back for numerous other jobs, including tiling the kitchen backsplash, adding stone veneer to our fireplace, renovating and adding electricity to our barn, repairing drywall, replacing lvt flooring, and our biggest project to date, adding a gorgeous 30x18 covered patio to our back yard. Sam's crews are respectful, polite, on time and skilled. We appreciate that they show up when expected, put in a full day's work and deliver what was promised. Any issues we've ever had have been always quickly and respectfully addressed to our satisfaction. We've had such great experiences with Dayton Builders that we don't hesitate to recommend them to friends, and to have them do work for us without even getting another quote. There's a lot to be said for finding a trustworthy, dependable contractor!
Dayton Builders Group completed a basement renovation for us after our pipes froze and the basement was flooded. Flooring, drywall, trim and bathroom cabinets were replaced, surfaces painted, and a bonus room and closets added. Sam provided detailed estimates for the insurance company, and April updated us on schedules and orders. I loved the clean up the team completed at the end of each work day to keep the dust and dirt at a minimum. Trustworthy group and I highly recommend!
