They have some unique items if you're a history buff, such as cannons and artifacts from the French and Indian War. The information provided is very basic with a few interactive objects. The walk around the area and the fountain are wonderful for the whole family.
Decent little museum if you want the typical one sided U.S. colonizer perspective of history to make you feel better about our countries past… and how “important” white settlers were to indigenous people… I would not waste your money… and they didn’t bother telling me I could have gotten in free with paid admission to the Hines museum. Could have saved myself $10
It’s a great museum, the whole space is great. The parking is a little bit far from it and it can be hard to get and expensive though.

The displays and information provided an exceptional overview of Fort Pitt and the start of the French and Indian War. there is a first floor with a display of Fort Pitt and the surrounding area. There is also a display of Tamaqua, the Lenape sachem, and a popular quote by him that gave me chills. There are also displays of how the quarters looked as well as the trading center in the fort. Upstairs is the exhibit area, detailing the Indigenous peoples located in Western Pennsylvania by the time of the French and Indian War and after. It is detailed for us to know not only about the Indigenous peoples from this time period, but also how these people have survived humiliation and eventual removal to places further west. The staff were also friendly, willing to help with questions of the history and ticket information. Overall, I would recommend this place not only for those who love Western Pennsylvania history, but also for those who love US history and world history.
Nice and interesting museum. Displays tell the story of the history, more to see and learn then is perceived when walking in. Also nice park area to walk along the rivers. Even on week day, many out walking and running. Felt safe while walking back to hotel on Penn Ave. Would recommend taking a couple hours and visiting. Is. The original block house is open on weekends.
