This place is incredible, highly recommend if you’re in the area. The whole place has this fire smell from the oven that makes your mouth water. Had the pesto pizza and my brain is still trying to understand how good the flavor is. Brisket Mac and cheese and pepperoni rolls were also great. A cute little place with great food and vibes.
The easiest 5 stars to give because this was the best pizza I’ve ever had! The Bianca pizza, the house salad, the bacon candy- get them all if you can because I can’t even type this review without my mouth watering because they were so, so good. The pizza crust was perfectly cooked, which is an impressive feat as sometimes brick oven pizza can get too toasty very quickly, and the toppings for the Bianca pizza were generous but also not in a way that weighed the pizza down or overpowered the crust’s quality. The house salad is an excellent combination of flavors and well worth getting. The bacon candy is cooked to a good chewiness without sliminess in the more fatty sections with the lightest sugary coating that compliments it so well. The service was great, especially with how packed the restaurant was, and our server chatted about the show we were seeing that evening. Although there were people waiting for tables, we didn’t feel rushed by the staff at all (though we tried to be speedy for the sake of other guests). A few logistical notes: They do not accept reservations, so arrive early, especially on nights when there are shows scheduled. They charge a 3% convenience fee for cards, so plan on bringing some cash if you want to save. This is a terrific option for the dinner part of dinner and a show, or just a quality meal for the sake of eating out. I would highly recommend!

I was visiting from out of town for work. I was in the mood for pizza and gave this place a try. This was really, honestly some of the best pizza I have ever had. I love the combinations offered. I got the pizza with pesto, shaved, Parmesan, and pork belly. It was so flavorful and perfect. I was visiting from Florida and I’m not sure if it was just this place or a Pittsburgh thing but the water was really good.
We visited Proper Brick Oven & Tap Room on a Friday around 6pm and were seated immediately, which was a pleasant surprise given that they operate on a first come, first served basis with no reservations. The space has a dark, industrial ambiance. The dining room is snug, which can feel cozy or a bit cramped depending on where you are seated, but it adds to the overall character. There are also a few communal tables available. Our server, Darien, was friendly and helpful right from the start. When we asked for recommendations, she suggested the Brussels sprouts and the Bianca pizza with candied bacon. Both turned out to be excellent choices. The Brussels sprouts were a standout starter. They were perfectly roasted, light, and crispy, finished with a sprinkle of Parmesan and a squeeze of lemon that really brightened the dish. For the main, we ordered the Bianca pizza topped with imported Italian burrata, fresh ricotta, mozzarella, Parmigiano-Reggiano, roasted garlic sauce, chile flakes, and extra virgin olive oil. The crust was spot on, crispy on the bottom while still light and airy. Adding the candied bacon was absolutely worth it and brought a sweet and savory contrast to the rich, cheesy base. Overall, the experience was excellent. Great food, attentive service, and a unique atmosphere make this a spot we would gladly return to.
I'm very particular about pizza. I grew up eating New York slices so not a lot makes the cut but this was decent. I got the mushrom with balsamic glaze and added Italian sausage but I'd probably do a regular pizza if I went back; it was way too sweet. The side mushrooms were killer though, genuinely. Our server was great, the place was lively and we were not rushed during a busy time. Overall, would totally go back!
