The food was delicious, and the server was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. They checked on us frequently, making us feel valued. However, the tables were too close together, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere reminiscent of a fish market. It was difficult to communicate with your table, even when we spoke loudly. my personal fav crab fried rice.! There was no respite from the constant noise, making it hard to enjoy a quiet meal. Despite these minor issues, the overall ambiance was great, and everything else was amazing.
Come for the food. Stay for the staff. I'm not sure I know enough superlatives to describe this place. You feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. It's clear that the staff enjoy working there. We had the duck and lobster (yes, all on one plate) which was exquisitely flavored and cooked to perfection and the drunken prawns and lobster noodles. Dessert was the fried pound cake. Everything was beautifully presented (as you can see). The service was second to none and enthusiastic. If you get a chance to eat here just go. You won't be disappointed.

One of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had. Service was elite across the board. Drinks were great, food was amazing, since it was our first time we went with their staples of the Lobster Fried Rice and Crispy Beef, both were amazing. Went with the Buttermilk Frog Legs as an starter, which was lights out. Went with the Bananas Foster Pound Cake as a shared dessert which also was amazing. Our only regret was not coming here for dinner the 1st night we were in town 😓 Can't express enough how great everything was
This place has been on my list for a long time, and I’m so glad I finally got to try it! I honestly don’t even have the words to describe how amazing the food, service, and ambiance were. They completely exceeded my expectations and are definitely giving other Atlanta restaurants a run for their money. Everything we had was incredible! you truly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Jojo was amazing and so knowledgeable about the dishes. He made everything sound so good, and they were just as great as he described! I can’t wait to go back. It was the perfect way to end the night. Thank you, Poor Calvin’s!
I often get nervous when a place has so much hype. I find myself doubting the praise like it’s disingenuous bootlicking. HOWEVER. I am happy to report that Poor Calvin’s is absolutely worth the hype (and that nothing tasted of said boot!) This is a special occasion kind of dining experience. I’m not just saying that because of the price tag. I’m saying it because the menu is beautifully sparse - they don’t overwhelm you with ingredients and options that are too similar to each other. Calvin’s staff EXPERTLY walks you through their offerings with beautiful descriptions of palates and flare. Shout out to Linda, who was more culinary concierge than waiter!! We really enjoyed the pork belly eggs and the lobster Mac (which be warned LIT me up). But the real standouts were the wontons and the fried rice. The wontons are served with a trio of sauces that are so unexpected and perfectly harmonious! Red berry. Mango. Balsamic truffle. Like… WHAAAAAT?! Absolutely amazing. The fried rice was so decadent - chock full of seafood and veggies - and you know how most fried rice requires a healthy dash of soy or some sauce to moisten it up? NOT THIS ONE. I don’t know what voodoo Calvin is using but holy crab it was moist and ridiculous. Would I recommend? 10/10 absolutely Will I go back? Yes, and can’t wait!
