Great atmosphere. Good food. Amazing live music. Service left a lot to be desired. Nui made it clear on 5.2.2026 lunch that we were not an important table to him. The manager was nice and comped my Bloody Mary...it is a well made drink, just a little too sweet for my liking. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because it had a great vibe and we enjoyed our food. It was my special lunch date with my daughter and it just didn't seem like the waiter wanted anything to do with us. My daughter kept asking where the waiter was and why he made us wait so long. Anyhow, we will return sometime and hopefully I can change this review to a 5 star.
A friend and I decided to check out Culinary Dropout, and now I understand why people keep talking about it. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere. It's the perfect spot whether you're meeting friends, grabbing drinks, or going on a date night. The fried chicken was great. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned well. Paired with the mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuit, and slaw, it felt comforting like comfort food does, but special. It was done exactly right. The house-made chips and dip disappeared from the table faster than anything. We were hungry, but they were also just that good. The cocktails were equally impressive. Well-balanced, beautifully presented, and strong enough to remind you that you're getting your money's worth. Every drink that hit our table looked like it belonged in a magazine. I had an espresso Martini made with their house spiced bourbon instead... chefs kiss!!!!! What I appreciated most was the attention to detail. Nothing felt rushed. The food came out hot and fresh, the service was attentive without hovering, and the entire experience felt intentional from start to finish. Even with having a waiter who was also training, the experience was great! There are plenty of places with good food. There are plenty of places with a good vibe. Culinary Dropout manages to deliver both for me, which is a lot harder to find than people realize. If you're looking for a place where the food, drinks, atmosphere, and overall experience all match the hype, this is it. Safe to say this won't be my last visit.

Really enjoyed the overall experience of this place. I think one of the standout features to this place was the fact that they had live music. A woman was playing the guitar and singing some top hits of today which I thought was pretty unique. The food was exceptionally good. Their drink "campfire vibes" I think it was called was done perfectly. The ambiance of the establishment was very big and spacious. Our waitress was amazing. Her name was Jocelyn (apologize if I misspelled your name if you're reading this). Very attentive and nice. I definitely look forward to coming here again.
A perfect spot for creative cocktails and food 🍹🍣🥟🍳 Our bartender, Johnny, pointed us the right way and did not disappoint. The Crispy Spicy Tuna was a highlight — the rice was perfectly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Whipped Feta & Tahini Dip paired with that pillowy bread -divine. The Wagyu Pig in a Blanket and Deviled Eggs were also solid choices. Cocktails! 🍹 Tried the Mexican Candy Shot, Evil jungle Princess, birdie juice, and Watermelon Spritzer — all worth ordering. Would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a good spot in Charlotte. Update: I visited a few more times and sat at a table instead due to number of people and each time the wait staff seemed to disappear . Highly recommend sitting at the bar
We had a team meeting, 17 people in total, and we had a great and delicious experience. The restaurant was full, but they still took time to take care of us and our requests. The drinks were great, I had a Mango Flavored cocktail, that was tasty. We also had nachos and pretzels that were amazing. I had the meatloaf that was pretty good, abr my colleagues loved the ribs. Would definitely go back, as everything was great, including the service.
