We used Hammer & Hand back in 2010-2012 for a major remodel of our kitchen, basement, and upstairs on our 1913 home. They were such a pleasure to work with! Mac and Eddie were amazing to work with as was everyone on the team. They kept us informed, helped us with decisions and really provided white glove service. They may be on the higher side of cost sometimes but they are worth every penny in our opinion, no question. Would recommend them hands down and hope someday to work with them again!
We purchased a 100 year old home that was in dire need of a complete remodel and interviewed with 6 contractors. From the moment we met with the team at Hammer, we knew immediately that would be the company we were going to use. They were incredibly responsive, professional and the quality of their work was world-class. There are many quality contractors in Portland but there can only be one #1 and undoubtedly, that contractor is Hammer & Hand.

After a nightmarish experience with an unlicensed contractor, I turned to Hammer and Hand to undo a disastrous bathroom remodel. My partner and I had been without a bathroom for 6 weeks! Hammer and Hand mobilized immediately, produced an estimate and began work within a week of my first contact. We enjoyed the relationship with our project manager Kevin and lead carpenter so much that we engaged them to finish a long-delayed bedroom project as well, and are currently developing a basement remodel that will hopefully begin next month. We love our new bathroom and it’s cozy heated floor. Kevin and the crew were professional and reliable. They finished the project under budget and on-time. I highly recommend Hammer and Hand for any project, big or small. Thank you Hammer and Hand!
I have worked with Hammer and Hand a number of times over the years. They have consistently proven to be one of the most reliable and problem solving teams when it comes to renovations. They have a high level of communication and bring thought and care to each project. I would happily work with Daryll and and Carrie again!
It's clear many have had a good experience with Hammer and Hand, but I did not. The subs that worked on my project were top notch, but my project manger was HORRIBLE. I'd love to name him by name, but I'm not sure I wouldn't be sued. The project management was almost nonexistent. My emails and phone calls went days (weeks sometimes) without being answered and out of desperation to get my project done, I ended up working with the subs myself. My project was small, and maybe this is why there was so little attention or consideration giving to it and me over the five long months it took to get it done. My advice, DO NOT use Hammer and Hand for a small project (or at all). My project manager dropped the ball over and over; it was amazing how unprofessional and ineffective he was. I'm extremely resentful that I paid Hammer and Hand's huge prices and in the end, the project got done not because of them, but despite them and their mismanagement.
