We went here on a Tuesday night and it was very low-key and not busy at all, which made for a relaxed evening. The service was great from start to finish. We began at the bar for happy hour drinks and appetizers (happy hour is bar-only). The drinks were excellent and reasonably priced. The appetizers were okay — the lamb meatballs were a hit, but the fries weren’t very crispy and some items tasted like they may have been reheated rather than made fresh. We then moved to a table for dinner. The bread and oil were delicious. For our mains, the fish was excellent and the cabbage wedge was also very good. The half chicken, however, felt like it may not have been made to order. I rated the atmosphere 4 stars because a homeless individual was allowed inside and approached us at the bar asking for money (No judgement to the homeless guy, I'm just being transparent) The staff handled it kindly and professionally by offering him water and asking him to leave. We appreciated their compassion, it wasn’t quite the experience we expected at a fine dining restaurant — especially since we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. Overall, great service and some standout dishes, with a few areas that could be improved.
We so enjoyed our experience at Besa. The atmosphere is modern, but warm and cozy, and the food and drinks were fantastic from start to finish. Our server Claire made wonderful recommendations, was attentive and kind and really helped make the evening great. The iberico secreto and Mille Feuille were highlights! The care and intention that has gone into the menu is evident, and we will definitely be revisiting Besa for more evenings out.

TL;DR: BESA Detroit channels the Adriatic with remarkable finesse—refined, flavorful, and warmly professional. A destination that balances coastal soul with modern polish, perfect for both colleagues and connoisseurs. --- BESA Detroit – Adriatic Elegance in the Heart of the City BESA captures the spirit of the Adriatic through food that feels both familiar and elevated. The Tiropita, drizzled with hot honey, sesame, and thyme, is a delicate interplay of sweet, savory, and herbal. The Village Salad proves that simplicity, when guided by perfect produce and restraint, can sing. The Chicken Breast, paired with fragrant rice, royal trumpet mushrooms, and a luminous avgolemono sauce, is balanced and deeply satisfying. And the Crispy Fingerling Potatoes—with feta, za’atar, and caramelized cipollini—are as memorable as any main. Previous visits confirm the kitchen’s consistency: the double-cut lamb chops remain a standout, grilled with soulful precision. Service is equally exceptional—gracious, efficient, and quietly confident. BESA isn’t merely a restaurant; it’s a modern interpretation of Mediterranean generosity and grace.
BESA is the one place you have to eat at if you can only eat at one place in Detroit. The food, drinks, and guest service is top notch around this place. When you walk in you feel like a millionaire. Claire was our waitress for this night and it was one of the most pleasant nights possible. She took time to learn about us and ask questions about us. We also got to learn about her and enjoyed having a connection with her. My wife and I can't wait to come back to BESA again for another date night.
We had a great time at Besa. It has become one of our favorite restaurants in Detroit. Everything we had tasted amazing. Our waitress Abby was also very nice and personable! Valet parking available across the street at townhouse
